Brahmatal trek
The Brahmatal Trek is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Garhwal Himalayas, offering trekkers a unique opportunity to experience the winter beauty of Uttarakhand. Situated at an altitude of around 12,250 feet, this trek is known for its panoramic views of towering peaks, serene alpine lakes, and pristine snow-covered landscapes. The trek begins from Lohajung, a small village located around 215 kilometers from Kathgodam. From here, trekkers embark on a journey through dense oak, rhododendron, and pine forests, crossing several meadows and trekking along scenic ridgelines that offer spectacular views of the Nanda Ghunti and Trishul peaks. One of the highlights of the trek is reaching Brahmatal Lake, a serene high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. According to local legend, this lake is believed to be the meditation site of Lord Brahma, adding a spiritual element to the trek.
